Crypt of Medina and other text adventure games
Question:
Hello Andy,
1. Have you ever heard of a game called Crypt of Medina?
2. Do you know where one might find a copy that will work on a modern PC computer? (the original was for an apple pc on 5.25″ disk)
Of course answering no to the first question will mean no to the second… Anyway, if you can help I’d appreciate it.
Thanks
King Lear
Answer:
Your highness,
No, I’m sorry I haven’t ever heard of Crypt of Medina. I did a little research and wasn’t able to find much information on it, let alone a playable version. This might be one that is lost to the ages.
Just the same, I’ll post your question and this answer. Perhaps one of my readers will see your question and be able to help out.
In the meantime, if you’d like to play text adventure games besides Crypt of Medina, check out this article about text adventures and interactive fiction.
It has instructions for how to install and play text adventures on your own PC, Mac or device like a PalmOS handheld.
Doug:
Hey KL.
Not sure why that game popped into my head just now, but it did and I had to look online to see if there was any information about it online. My brother and I used to play that game for hours on end when we were kids. My father had gotten us an Apple IIe in 1984 and a childhood friend of ours had given us a pirated floppy disk. I vaguely remember that there was an elevator that you had to use and put on a mask or you would drown when it mysteriously filled with water, and there was also a section where you had to use a magic rope that floated up into the sky…It was probably the only game that we were never able to complete. We were convinced that the instruction book that we didn’t have, must have had some enlightening tips or important information that we were missing. Anyway, I noticed your posting and it brought back a FLOOD of childhood memories. I hope that you find some information on the game. If you do, I’d really appreciate you shooting me a note. It always drove me crazy that I was never able to solve it… I promise to do the same.
