Instant messenger for a LAN
Question:
how do I obtain instant messaging without using the internet?
Answer:
Are you asking about sending instant messages on a personal or home network? One with no connection to the Internet?
Response:
Yes, No internet connection, rather through personnal office network.
Answer:
Okay. So you want to send instant messages through a home or office network, and that network is not connected to the Internet.
There are a few options:
RealPopup – RealPopup is an instant messenger for LAN environments. No Internet access is needed – just use RealPopup to send and receive chat messages on your office or home network.
InterChat – Similar to RealPopup, InterChat also provides a few more features, including the ability for skinning (better visual customization).
Both instant messaging tools are freeware.

LAN messenger team:
Just try google search by “lan chat”, “lan messenger” keywords.

The above comment was left by the marketing folks at “Softros LAN messenger”, so be aware that’s a product plug instead of an unbiased user recommendation. Instead of using the roundabout google search they mention, you can also click on the “LAN messenger team” link above to go right to their website.
The reason I picked the two products I did was because those products are free. LAN messenger is not. They do, however, have a free trial, so you can see what you’re getting before you purchase.
