I’ve been trying to secure copies of the television series, “Route 66″, since before last Christmas. My dad had a speaking role in one of the episodes filmed here in Cleveland and I’ve been wanting to see it for years. I also wanted to make it available to my family. To make a long story short, I tried buying it from a site I thought was okay and ended up getting burned. I got my money refunded, but that was due to my bank. My question is this: Which sites ARE okay to do business with? Any suggestions?

I have two suggestions for you on how to prevent getting scammed:

1) Purchase from reputable sellers. The big names have grown that size for a reason: They’re dependable and trustworthy, and handle problems with acceptable methods. Places like Amazon.com and Best Buy may not be the cheapest, but they’re reliable and have good return policies.

2) If you’re considering purchasing from someone you haven’t heard of before, research them. The easiest way is with a Google search. If your company in question is named “Seedy CDs”, then search for terms like: “problems with Seedy CDs“, “Seedy CDs scam“, “Seedy CDs review“, “Seedy CDs complaints” and similar. Granted, most companies will have problems and complaints, so you’ll have to use your judgement: If the company does have complaints, how many? And what are the complaints about? And, most importantly, how were the complaints resolved?
