Audacity recording records background noise, but does not record line input from cassette
Question:
I connect the lines to my computer line in and the headphone of the cassette. I hit record on the PC and play on the cassette. Audacity doesn’t record what is on the tape, but I can hear what Im doing in the back ground and hear myself talk. what am I doing wrong?
Stereo Audacity recording keeps appearing as mono
Question:
I downloaded the Audacity software as I am trying to record an old audio cassette to wav format. No matter what I try, Audacity only seems to record one channel properly. I’ve tried playing with the edit/preferences tab to change from mono to stereo and back. I’ve also tried changing soundcards but this doesn’t work either. And I am almost certain that my cable from the player to the computer is stereo. I am not technically minded so am wondering if I am missing something basic?

Burned music CD not playing in anything except PC
Question:
I recorded a cassette tape, transferred it to computer thru both Audacity and Sound Recorder. I have burned TDK CD-R discs in MP3, WMA and WAV. They only play on my computer (Windows Vista, unfortunately, HP A6300T, Windows Media Player 10).

Converting 4 track to MP3 with Audacity
Question:
I’ve just recorded some songs on a 4 track recorder. Can I just connect from the ‘line in’ on the 4 track to the mic jack on my laptop PC? Then convert to MP3, using Audacity, from there?
