How to convert WAV files to MP3 files

Question:

I downloaded the Audacity software so that I could copy my cassette music to cd’s. I got the cord, plugged them in and viola, sent 20 min. (one cassette side) to my desktop and Windows Media Player. Cables and soundcards for tape to PC recording

Cassette to Audacity recording problem with heavy static

Question:I tried to convert audio cassette tape to these formats by following your instructions, using the free Audacity software and a 3.5mm male-male stereo audio cable. But when I record a song I get terrible static that is louder than the music.

Reel-to-reel tape to MP3 conversion

Question:

My husband has a reel-to-reel tape machine and would like to convert some of these old recordings to the new digital format. Any suggestions? I know Ion Audio has the device(s) to convert LPs to cd/mp3. Any such user friendly [conversion advice] for reel-to-reels and cassettes tapes?
