Turn off those options and see if it makes a difference: In Audacity, open the “Edit” menu and go to “Preferences”. Click the “Audio I/O” tab. UNCHECK the boxes for “Play other tracks while recording new one” and “Software playthrough“. Then try recording again.

Hi im going to start new in techon first time,so like what are the best programs do you say are the best right now for a beginner? I’am new to the process of techno form making it to overlapping,fade the sounds,..everything so basically m looking for a program to help/guide me in everything so i can understand it becuase I want to use it to my fullest extant.. Just worked out what the problem is.

Even if you select part of a track, the Effect menu WILL NOT WORK IF THE PAUSE BUTTON IS PRESSED! So you think you’ve stopped the track, but in fact you only paused it…

This is a bit hard to spot – I’d even read something related to this in the help and didn’t realise this was my problem – maybe a tooltip to help people who click the Effect menu with a track paused?

Lots of other menu items are inactive too – I mean ones you’d expect to be active, like “Cut”, “Copy” and “Paste” under the “Edit” menu – luckily there are toolbar buttons for these (which _are_ working, even though the menu versions aren’t).

Maybe it’s a bug, but the only time I’ve seen this has been with trial versions of software. I’ll look around and see if there’s a paid-for version of Audacity, as I really need a destructive audio trimmer, and this looks ideal, if I can get it to work.

You can imagine my bewilderment when “The Muppets” and “Grizzly Adams” shows popped up on the DVD instead of “The Untouchables.” I tried unsuccessfully to get either a refund or another DVD box set. I will never order anything over the internet again. DVD Avenue.TV is corrupt, incompetent and dishonest.

I think this is the time to close the thread. We moved beyond the original topic and have dropped down to political bashing of individuals and institutions, which I have no interest in doing for this particular conversation. As for the chip level — YES, some machines use standardized sockets. But many do not. Especially if you want to go from an Intel chip to a cheaper, but more modern, AMD chip. They don’t necessarily fit the same form factor. And the original answer was correct that OTHER pieces may still keep you from realizing the full potential of even a plug-compatible CPU chip. If you put a 440-horse V8 with a Holly 4-barrel in a 3-speed Pinto, it’s still going run like a 3-speed Pinto. A LOUD 3-speed Pinto, but a 3-speed Pinto. You need a new transmission, a high-performance clutch, and probably a new rear end. And better tires and suspension might help, too.

Now we’re talking “motherboard” level. that’s the circuit board inside that the chips all plug into, and your expansion boards stick up from. It’ll support faster memory, and won’t hold your new, faster processor back from doing it’s best. but you may be able to use most or even all of your old expansion cards, the power supply, drives, and case, without modifying anything. But it’ll cost a bit more. Too much more, or if too many expansion boards are obsolete, and you’ll start thinking about replacing that whole box with a new one.

But you’ll still be able to move your hard drives if they’ve got room in them to spare, perhaps your optical drives, and your monitor may still be ok. And chances are your network card will be ok. Ditto the keyboard and mouse. Unless you’ve changed your needs so much that NONE of the computer meets them anymore, you should be able to keep some of it.

Or if you’re just Johnny Whiz-Bang, and need the biggest, baddest, and newest of everything, throw the old one in the dumper, and buy all new gear as soon as it’s on Engadget. But that’s expensive and wasteful.

1. Determine the exact type, model, and O/S of your computer
2. Remove old utility file as noted above
3. Click above “Toshiba’s laptop support” link to go to Toshiba Support
4. Click Download button
5. Chose your Category, Family, and Model, and click GO
6. Refine the search results by choosing Operating System, and “Display”.
7. Click Title link “Toshiba Hotkey Utility for Display Device”
8. Click Download Now
9. In popup, click Save File. This is an executable
10. Locate download and run .exe
11. Click setup and file will install.

I have lot of good old music on tape. I want to convert them to wav file. I don’t know which tape machine is better. Please help me!

I resolved this by just using the MONO cable, which needed no jack plug, and as if by magic, the echo vanished – not just from Audacity but from the PC playback as a whole.

No, Ms. Leonard didn’t give this example but simply stated “toxins.” Need I discuss hormones and antibiotics induced in chickens and their “toxic” effects on my child?

It is not up to the job of trying to be a professional operating system. A basic requirement of an operating system for the past 50 years has been the task of backing up (& restore if ever needed).

Without this it should not even be released to Beta Testing.

It is not “fit for purpose” (a legal consumer phrase in the UK) and you should get your money back from the supplier.

To resize or rotate a QuickTime movie:
In QuickTime Player, choose Window > Show Movie Properties.
In the Properties window, select a video track and click Visual Settings.
To resize the movie, type new numbers in the Current Size fields.
To keep the same height-to-width proportions, select Preserve Aspect Ratio.

To rotate the movie, click one of the rotate buttons.
To restore the movie to its original appearance, click Reset.

Recently someone got the no and pin for my husbands card. They call and ask to talk to him, but he’s at work. But seeing how my name is on the card and if god forbid anything happens to him, i am the one responsible for all and any debt incurred, a naturally thought, well i can handle this now, no prob.

Wrong…prob…becos i am a “at home mom”…i have no status till it comes time for payment…and was told ‘no we can’t talk to you…we have to talk to your husband’.

If i am gonna be treated as a second class citizen becos i don’t get paid for the 24/7 18 year stint of employment i do…then B of A can go to hell.

We’re Running Out Of Resources! That is bad;

The reason that this is bad is because more and more countries are becoming developed (not the ones we go to war with obviously) but as things progress more and more people are eating up the world’s resources think 5% using 30% of the resources and other countries that are catching up will be doing the same we’ll need more resources yet we live in a finite amount of resources planet. An economist would tell you that we are doing good because while we are doing good it won’t be that way forever as we’ll run out of resources. I don’t see how you can’t put that together lmao.

As For flame retardent chemicals and other chemicals she even stated that we have no idea what the effect is on humans if it’s positive or negative, though she did say “toxic” and implied that putting our heads on toxins was a practice that happens daily.. I do agree though she does have a point there are many toxins that we put into our consumer products. Lead being one of them. While people hate china for having “Excessive” amounts of lead we also do put lead in our paint as well, the important aspect of this part is that there are many chemicals that can .. when combined with other chemicals cause us harm and there is rarely enough done (studies ect) by our big corporations to make sure that it’s safe even when mixed with the already existant chemicals that we have.
You also noted that many of us have lead arsenic ect and things we picked up from our environment, how can this be good? Lol, that’s the whole point of “toxic toxic toxic” it’s because these chemicals are getting into our body. Also let’s take note that the “rate of cancer” has increased exponentially over the past few decades (thought it could be just that we are able to test for cancer better than ever) Even if our mortality ratings are lower and we live longer.

Our consumer world continually tells us not to repair…toss it and buy a new one.
Classic example: I should not have to get a new phone when my battery no longer holds a charge. But the phone store will tell you that the replacement battery costs more than a new phone (uh…with a renewal contract).

“If you’re willing to spend the money [to fix something], you might as well get a brand new [one]” is exactly the mindset that contributes to the problem.
