How to figure out wattage, electricity costs for devices, homes and condos
Question:
How much electricity does a condo use in kwh (kilo-watt hours)? What does it cost?
Would you consider giving me a hand or at least some advice based on your experience?
Answer:
I have no idea what your condo would use. However, there’s a way to find out:
1) Get the wattage stats from all the devices that the condo uses, from air conditioners to lights and TV sets. For ballparking this, things like toasters or coffee makers aren’t important – just get the big things, the ones that are used often and use a lot of energy.
2) Go to this link:
Type in your wattage, then click “Calculate energy cost from wattage only”.
You’ll then have an estimate of the cost of that device (if it was left on all the time), and based on step one, you’ll also know the total amount of wattage used.
